Sameer Parpia
Lead & Faculty Biostatistician
Dr. Sameer Parpia is an Associate Professor and Biostatistician in the Departments of Oncology and Health Research Methods, Evidence, & Impact at McMaster University. He serves as the lead for CUBE and is a faculty biostatistician with the Ontario Clinical Oncology Group (OCOG), an academic clinical trial coordinating and methods unit and . He is the Director of the Canadian Network for Statistical Training in Trials (CANSTAT), a pan-Canadian platform to train and mentor biostatisticians in clinical trials. Dr. Parpia’s research interests are in the design, conduct and analysis of randomized clinical trials.

Dr. Greg Pond is the Director of the Escarpment Cancer Research Institute (ECRI). He is a biostatistician and an Associate Professor in the Department of Oncology. He is the Associate Director of Ontario Clinical Oncology Group ( OCOG). He holds an Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR) Senior Scientist Award. His expertise is in cancer clinical trials, especially Phase I and II trials.

Yang Wang

Yang Wang is a Biostatistician and a PhD student in the Health Research Methodology Program at McMaster University. She obtained a bachelor of science in statistics from Central South University in China and a master of mathematics in biostatistics from the University of Waterloo, in 2021. Yang’s research interests are in the statistical and methodological issues that arise during the design, conduct and analysis of randomized clinical trials. Outside of her research pursuits, Yang enjoys travelling, exploring the outdoors and photography.

Borong Wang is biostatistician within the McMaster Retina Trials Consortium and is working with the Collaborative Unit for Biostatistics and Evidence on the Treat & Extend Versus Fixed Dosing With Faricimab for Management of Diabetic Macular Edema: A Pragmatic, Multi-center, Open-label, Randomized, Controlled (INSITE-DME) Trial. She completed her undergraduate degree in mathematics at King’s College London and her master’s degree in data science at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Before joining McMaster University, she worked at a contract research organization, focusing primarily on statistical analysis and regulatory filings for oncology trials. Her interest lies in the application of statistical methods in clinical trials. Her hobbies include hiking, skiing and photography.

Qirui Hou
Biostatistician and CANSTAT Fellow
Qirui Hou holds an MSc in Biostatistics from the University of Toronto. He served as a trainee at the Biostatistics Core Services of the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), where he worked on projects involving novel adaptive clinical trial designs. His research primarily focuses on Bayesian and frequentist adaptive trial design. Before coming to Toronto, Qirui completed his BSc in Statistics at the University of British Columbia. Outside of work, he enjoys windsurfing, badminton, and tennis
